Gravesham Tory Watch.

The Tories are now in control of Gravesham Borough Council; they have already started asset stripping Gravesham and selling land owned by the public.

Great Tory Council Selloff (they’re selling off the family silver!)

A Freedom of Information request was made to the council by Urban Gravesham to ' identify all land owned by the Borough Council which have been declared surplus to requirements and/or offered for sale within the last two years'. The council provided 2 lists, the first one shows all property recently sold and the second is the list being considered.

Gravesham Tories sell land earmarked by the previous administration for improvements to Parrock Street Bus Stop and St Johns Church.

The previous Labour Administration of Gravesham Borough Council had earmarked the site of the old disused Parrock Street Toilets for road improvements, better bus stop facilities and a dedicated parking area for St Johns RC Church.

Currently funerals arriving at St Johns have to park on the pavement adjacent to the Church. The Labour Group thought this was undignified and needed to be addressed. It was decided to provide a dedicated parking area for funerals etc.. Also bus stop facilities were to be improved.

This can no longer happen as the Tories have sold the land!

Gravesham Tory Councillors line their pockets with Council Tax Payers Money.

Gravesham’s new Tory administration intends to pay themselves more money from the Council Tax; the Chair’s of the Policy Overview Committees will be paid for a job that previous Labour Councillors did for nothing. This means that in less than six months, Gravesham’s Tories are costing the Gravesham Council Tax Payer £20,000 more per year.

Gravesham Council Tories start to sell Council Houses by the back door.

Despite Gravesham’s Council Tenants voting overwhelmingly (3 -1) against the sale of Council Houses; Gravesham Borough Council’s Tory Administration has started selling the Housing Stock bit by bit. Houses in Colyer Road, Bedford Road and Nelson Road (all Labour areas) have been secretly sold.
